Da Nang is full of life and energy while maintaining a relaxed, beach-town vibe. Unlike Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, the atmosphere here feels refreshingly laid-back and far less crowded. After living in Da Nang for a year, we fell in love with its chilled lifestyle, budget-friendly living costs, and especially its incredible beaches.
For travelers visiting for the first time, there are a huge number of hotels near the Danang best beach, the infamous My Khe beach, and the best part, every beach is free and open to the public. That kind of beach access is rare, especially when the sand is soft, white, and clean, and the sea sparkles with a deep turquoise blue.

Additionally, head south toward Hoi An and you’ll find the coastline packed with private beach resorts. But in Da Nang city, the beaches remain accessible right from the city’s main beachfront road. My An is a beautiful beach with a lifeguard, lounges, restaurants, bars, food trucks, drink trucks, tourist info cabin, toilets, feet rinsing, clean water, surf-able waves, night swimming, and magical evening lights.
This is a great spot with a long walkway along the ocean. You’ll find unique decorations, small seaside restaurants, and plenty of nearby hotels—perfect if you’re with family and kids. The coastline stretches quite a distance with several beaches, but a clear sign marks My An Beach specifically.
A good thing is, the beach offers warm water year-round, peaceful palm-lined shores, and stunning views of the Lady Buddha and green mountains. It’s perfect for sunrise swims, sunset views, and family-friendly beach days. A few laid-back beach bars add to the vibe, making it one of the top Da Nang beaches for relaxation.
Beach bar & Restaurant
There is one Beach Bar & Restaurant along My An Beach. Their daily happy hour runs from 12–6 PM with a great 3-for-2 drink deal. For another solid option, check out Maia Beach Bar & Restaurant Danang. While the vibe is nice, I usually find the drink selection a bit more limited.
Surfing at the beach
My An Beach again stands out as one of the best beaches in Danang for surfing, especially during the winter months when the waves are stronger. The prime surf season in Da Nang usually runs from January to March, just after the rainy season. You’ll find a few surf rental shops conveniently located along the beach.
My An also features unique local attractions like Bãi Tắm Đêm—Da Nang’s dedicated night swimming beach—and Khu Chiếu Phim, an outdoor beach cinema that’s part of Paradise Beach Bar & Restaurant. It’s a great mix of surfing, relaxation, and beachside entertainment all in one spot.
My Khe Beach (Top in Danang)
My Khe Beach, located right next to My An, is often called Da Nang City Beach and ranks among the top beaches in Vietnam. Known for its soft white sand, clear blue water (except during the rainy season when it turns grey), and iconic palm trees, My Khe is perfect for beach surfing with plenty of shady spots.
Surrounding the beach, you’ll find an affordable sun loungers, and local vendors offering massages—ideal for a relaxing day by the sea. My Khe Beach is also one of the most family-friendly beaches in Da Nang, with calm areas suitable for kids and a laid-back atmosphere that feels safe and welcoming.

Bai Bien Beach
Bai Bien Beach sits along the same stretch as My Khe, connected by the scenic Da Nang beach walking path that runs the entire waterfront. This part of the coastline feels much more natural and less developed—perfect if you’re searching for a quiet beach in Da Nang.
The beach here is narrower, with more palm trees offering natural shade. You won’t find sun lounger rentals or beach bars—just one or two small shacks serving drinks and snacks. It’s a peaceful, clean beach near the peninsula, ideal for relaxing away from the crowds.
Swimming is allowed in most areas, though some zones have restrictions, so it’s important to check local signs. If you’re looking for a beautiful, uncrowded beach in Da Nang where you can enjoy nature, take a walk, or spend quiet time with family, Bai Bien Beach is a great option.
Bai Tam Pham Van Dong
Pham Van Dong Beach lies north of Bai Bien and My Khe Beach, offering one of the most balanced beach experiences on the Da Nang coastline. At its southern end, you’ll find a cluster of beachfront bars and restaurants—perfect for food, drinks, and relaxing by the sea.
What sets this beach apart is its peaceful vibe. Unlike the An Thuong area, where a four-lane road sits right next to the sand, Pham Van Dong keeps traffic at a distance, creating a quieter, more natural setting.
The beach is clean, shaded by trees, and ideal for anyone seeking a quiet, family-friendly beach in Da Nang. Esco Beach Bar is a popular spot here, offering drinks and small beachfront pools for cooling off.
Further north, Bãi Tắm Phạm Văn Đồng features a large paved area often used for art displays and games. It’s a laid-back zone with fewer large bars and a touch of local culture.
Man Thai Beach
Man Thai Beach stretches along the eastern edge of the Son Tra Peninsula, offering a peaceful, wide stretch of sand with incredible views of the lush hills and the iconic Lady Buddha statue. This beach in Da Nang is perfect for a relaxed day by the sea, far from the city’s hustle.
During the summer, when the sea calms, you can catch one of the most beautiful sunrises in Da Nang as it rises over the peninsula—an unforgettable start to the day.
Head toward the Man Thai area, and you’ll experience one of the city’s most active fishing villages. Fishermen head out in their traditional round coconut boats (basket boat), and return in the morning with fresh catches. They sell the seafood right on the beach.

Expect higher prices for drinks and sun loungers compared to local shops outside. The beach feels quiet and isolated, with no bars or beach shacks, and several unfinished hotel constructions add to the disconnected atmosphere.
Bien Thanh Binh
Located across the city in Da Nang Bay, Bien Thanh Binh Beach draws more locals than tourists. This Da Nang local beach has soft sand, calm water thanks to the bay, and stunning sunrise and sunset views.
A small grassy area leads to the wide beach, making it perfect for families, groups, and relaxed beach days. It offers a quieter alternative to busy Da Nang tourist beaches.
However, we noticed more trash than expected. While waste can be common on beaches in Vietnam, it did affect the experience—especially compared to cleaner spots like My Khe Beach or Pham Van Dong Beach.
Bai Tam Thanh Khe
You can buy freshly caught fish directly from local fishermen early in the morning. We first discovered this after watching an Australian cooking show, and it turns out many Da Nang hotels and seafood restaurants head here first to grab the best catch before anyone else.
Lang Co Beach
Lang Co Beach is wide, sandy, and quiet. Its remote location keeps crowds away, making it perfect for travelers seeking less touristy beaches near Da Nang.
An Bang Beach
While the beach was beautiful, it felt quiet and peaceful due to many resorts being empty or unfinished. Compared to the lively atmosphere of Da Nang beaches, the vibe here was much calmer, with less going on.
Though An Bang Beach is the most popular in Hoi An, I personally prefer the beaches in Da Nang for their energy and fun atmosphere!

When is the best time to visit Danang beaches?
All of the Danang beach areas stay beautiful year-round, but the rainy season—from late September to January—makes beach days less enjoyable. February through April brings ideal weather, with temperatures around 25–30°C, perfect for both relaxing and surfing.
During summer, especially July and August, the dry season kicks in with soaring heat and high humidity, often above 38°C. The sea stays calm with gentle waves—great for swimming, not surfing. However, the intense heat makes the city less pleasant to explore.
