Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, evokes the days when Asia was at its most chic, a heady mix of the exotic and European elegance. Explore the Ho Chi Minh Quarter and learn about the life of ‘Uncle Ho’. 

Visit the revered Temple of Literature and meet a water puppeteer who will introduce you to this traditional 11th century art and put on a private water puppet show. You will also be able to get involved in creating the puppets.

Accommodation 5 star at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

Limestone outcrops blanketed in lush vegetation rise up from the still, jade-coloured water. Your luxury cruise glides smoothly across the glassy surface, the shapes and shadows of the islets changing as you navigate this watery paradise. This is Lan Ha Bay, the smaller, quieter and altogether more serene neighbour of Halong Bay.

Enjoy a seafood lunch before setting sail into the bay. Cruise amongst the karst pinnacles, stopping to explore mysterious caves as you go. Spend the night anchored amongst glorious scenery.
Your luxury junk boat will be your home away from home as you explore Lan Ha Bay, and there are few experiences as magical as watching the sunrise from the comfort of your cabin, then watching it sink behind the sparkling water as the day draws to a close.

Hoi An is a charming town with lots of beautiful archirecture, lively markets and serene waterfront spots. Enjoy a few days wandering through its backstreets, discovering your own favourite corners.

This morning, tour the market to choose fresh ingredients from a colourful array of local produce for your Vietnamese cookery class, where you’ll learn to create a number of local dishes. This afternoon wander the old streets, visiting the Chua Ong Pagoda and the elaborate Japanese Covered Bridge before taking tea at the Reaching Out Teahouse, a peaceful place, run by hearing and speech impaired locals, to savour the flavours of local produce. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Enjoy a morning at leisure in Hoi An where you can further explore, relax by the pool or take a trip to the beach.
Late in the afternoon you’ll board a local river boat and set out on the water, watching the town’s fishermen getting ready to head out into the Cua Dai Sea. When you reach a good spot, hop off the boat and try your hand at casting fishing nets. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn how to paddle the unique Vietnamese round basket boats. On the way back, enjoy a drink and snack as you watch the last of the sun’s rays disappearing below the horizon.

This morning following luxury honeymoon tour see the French- built Central Post Office, the Reunification Palace and the harrowing War Remnants Museum. This afternoon, embark on a cyclo tour through the streets of Chinatown before enjoying a walking tour of a traditional herbal medicine street, learning about herbs, spices and healing concoctions as you go. Later this afternoon enjoy a cocktail and sunset views at the sky deck of the Bitexco Tower. Finally drift gently down the Saigon River, dining on delicious cuisine as you soak up the night time views.

Set sail through the palm-lined canals of the Mekong Delta in a traditional sampan, passing sleepy towns and stopping to explore markets bursting with fresh produce and innovative home industries. Visit a 19th- century house, a home that produces coconut candy and puffed rice before enjoying lunch served in a colonial-style villa set in a lush garden by the river. Return to Saigon for an overnight stay in your luxury hotel.

Spend the day discovering the magnificent Angkor complex. Stand before the splendour of incredible Angkor Wat, the magnum opus of the Khmer Empire. Next pass through the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, to visit Ta Prohm and the Bayon. Ascend to Phnom Krom, located on a high hill top, where you will sip champagne as the sun sets over Tonle Sap.

Visit Kampong Kleang, a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, meeting the locals and glimpsing a fascinating way of life. Continue to Beng Mealea. Drop in on the excellent Les Artisan D’Angkor, an organisation working to revive Khmer arts and crafts, before rejuvenating your temple-weary feet with a spa treatment.
